The Furry Scurry 5k Pet Fun Run
This fake event is focused on the Michigan Humane Society.
Humane societies always need support, whether that be more space,
more funds for supplies and food, or more coverage in adoptions.
Michigan Humane took in 9,668 animals in 2022. Since Michigan Humane
does not receive government funding and relies only on donations,
people must continue helping these animals. I’ve always been
an animal lover, and I wanted to pay homage by creating an event for
animal lovers like myself. To support this cause, it would be odd to
be doing something without animals involved, so with this event, all
animals are welcome as long as their owners accompany them.
In this event, people can bring their pets of any size, including and
not limited to: dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, pigs, frogs, turtles, horses,
cows, and more, to the park to run or walk a 5k. For those concerned
with the safety of having a variety of animals roaming in the park
among each other, there is no need to worry since each species will
have its own starting time. Getting fresh air and exercise for you and
your pet is always good. By spending quality time outdoors with your
furry friend, you are also supporting Michigan’s Humane Society by
paying the $30 entry fee. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to
Michigan Humane. By participating in this event, people and pets will
receive a wristband and a t-shirt which can be worn the day of. I hope
that with people participating in the event, both already-adopted pets
and those waiting to be adopted will benefit.
